New Line of Iris Valves Introduced

Salina, KS - Salina Vortex Corporation, manufacturers of slide gates and diverter valves for handling dry bulk material, announce their new Iris Valve.

Click hereThe Salina Vortex Iris Valve offers customers a reliable valve to control the gravity discharge of free-flowing bulk materials from bins, bulk bags, chutes and hoppers.

The IP (infinite position) Model offers customers infinitely adjustable positioning between fully open and fully closed by rotating the handle through a 180 degree arc. It is available in lightweight aluminum construction with bronze control ring or all stainless steel construction in 4", 6", 8" 10" and 12" sizes.

The QL (quick lock) Model offers customers rapid multiple set positioning through a trigger-type handle lock. It is available in 4", 8" and 12" sizes in lightweight aluminum construction with self-lubricated, hard polymer control ring and handle.

A 15" size is available in lightweight aluminum construction with Teflon coated aluminum control ring and handle. (The 15" size is ideal for bulk bag applications.) A form-fitted fabric sleeve (urethane coated for FDA requirements) provides a dust tight seal without damage to the product being handled. An anchored wire sleeve frame eliminates sleeve slippage that is associated with traditional iris valves.

Optional sleeve material for both models as well as "double sleeving" for the QL Model is available for difficult or custom application requirements.

With Spray Fluidizer

Advanced Drying System for Food Additives

October 2001- Niro has supplied a new SPRAY FLUIDIZER™ for food additives to Cheminova Agro A/S, Denmark. The plant is used for the continuous production of a dry, cooled, granulated product from a liquid phase.

Click hereThe benefits of this special drying concept include the resulting product properties:

  • -Compact Free-flowing Dust free and Mechanically strong
  • -The SPRAY FLUIDIZER system is operated with energy saving features and in a complete closed cycle nitrogen loop.
  • -Elimination of oxygen in the closed loop ensures safe operation and prevents air pollution.

Cheminova Agro and Niro were working closely together during installation, process optimization, and plant commissioning. The new dryer was handed over according to schedule in May 2001, and a high quality product was obtained right from plant start-up.

Cheminova Agro recently expressed their satisfaction with the stability of the Niro SPRAY FLUIDIZER system with respect to production rate, product quality, and granulometry.

Niro A/S specializes in the design and supply of spray dryers, fluid bed dryers, membrane filtration, extraction, heating and cooling plants for processing liquid, particulate and solid materials. Niro also has special activities within environmental engineering, where Niro's core technology is used in air pollution control and waste management.

Help Forum

Hot Messages from the Help Forum

People post their requests for help and offer their suggestions to others in our open forum.

Mr. Pesiri wants to pneumatically convey aluminum powder:

Our process is in need of a conveyance system to move from five to fifty pounds of aluminum powder per day in a controlled atmosphere.

We are considering either pneumatic of vibratory options, and must move the material fifteen feet horizontally and roughly seven feet vertically.  We are ready to purchase a turnkey system that can handle flammable material with minimal mechanical stresses on the powder.

The conveyance system will run from a six inch dump valve to a vibratory sifter and must be compatible with inert gas (nitrogen) or a nitrogen/oxygen mixture. Gas recycling will be a high priority.

We are looking to have this system operational in November, so lead time is critical.  Any reasonable option will be considered.

Mr. Cheng a scraper-reclaimer for soy meal:

I need equipment suppliers for two unit of traveling scraper reclaimer 120 feet length that can handle 200 tons per hour of soybean meal.

I have a proposed 150,000 sq. ft. flat warehouse with a capacity to store 60,000 tons of soybean meal.  Dimension of the warehouse is 260 feet width by 500 feet length.

The reclaimers are hanged on top of the roof framing and will travel the whole length of the 500 feet warehouse.
