CONEXPO 2008 : The Industry
Gathering Place
Las
Vegas, NV -- Construction and power transmission industry
groups from around the world are lending their support to
CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 and the co-located IFPE 2008
expositions, enhancing the shows' reputation as an industry
gathering place. The next edition of the triennial shows
will be held March 11-15, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention
Center in Las Vegas, USA.
More
than 90 U.S., Canadian and worldwide trade associations and
allied groups are official supporting organizations of
CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 and/or IFPE 2008, promoting the shows’
value and bringing their memberships to the events. Joining
U.S.-based groups are international industry-related
organizations from Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Finland,
Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey,
United Kingdom and Venezuela.
Industry support helps bring qualified buyer groups to the
shows and facilitates a global dialog among exhibitors and
customers on the latest trends and technologies. Many
associations also help develop the direction and content of
the shows' education programs to ensure they meet industry
needs.
Record
Number of Conventions, International Exhibit Pavilions at
2008 Shows
International groups are lending their support as well by
organizing a record 14 exhibit pavilions at the shows. IFPE
2008 has four international exhibit pavilions, from China,
Italy, Spain and Taiwan, and CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2008 has signed
on 10 international exhibit pavilions, from Brazil, Canada,
China, Finland, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, Turkey and the
United Kingdom.
The
pavilions provide an added dimension to the shows' exhibits,
giving attendees the opportunity to examine a broader range
of business solutions and develop more global industry
contacts. And, participating exhibitors gain access to
customers outside their home countries.
In
total, the shows expect to host more than 300 meetings of
associations and companies, adding to the mix of industry
professionals from around the world attending to exchange
information and ideas and find solutions to their business
challenges. And, associations create time and cost
efficiencies for their members through co-locating their
events.
CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE are also shows run for and by the
industry, with direction from industry companies and
associations. This management philosophy puts manufacturer
and customer needs first and earmarks show revenues to
advance industry causes.

Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), National Ready Mixed Concrete
Association (NRMCA) and National Stone, Sand and Gravel
Association (NSSGA) with the Associated General Contractors
(AGC) as sponsor.

K-Tron 19th on Forbes 200 Best
Small Companies List
Pitman,
NJ -- K-Tron International has been named number 19 on the
Forbes list of 200 Best Small Companies. The list, published
in the current October 29th issue of Forbes Magazine,
includes a profile of K-Tron CEO Ed Cloues.
The
article describes how Cloues, a former M&A lawyer at Morgan,
Lewis & Bockius in Philadelphia, “keeps this outfit humming”
by transforming it into a true global business and making a
number of key acquisitions.
Starting as a small maker of pneumatic scales in Pitman, NJ,
in 1949, K-Tron now has wholly owned operations in the U.S.,
Switzerland, the U.K., Germany, France, China and Singapore.
Long known for its feeder business, the article describes
how Cloues, who became chief executive in 1998, took K-Tron
into the Size Reduction business with acquisitions of
Pennsylvania Crusher and Gundlach.
“Ed is
like Warren Buffett — if it isn’t a fat pitch, he won’t
swing,” Preston Athey of T. Rowe Price told Forbes reporter
Zack O’Malley Greenburg.

Mr. Fitzsimmons is looking
augers to discharge silos:
We are building silos for
green coffee storage. We intend to dispense the coffee by
turning an auger which will be located in a horizontal tube
at the conical base of each silo.
It is intended that the
inside diameter of the tube will be ~150mm and the length of
the auger would be ~600 to 800mm. Can anyone recommend a
source of supply for the augers?
Thanks in advance for your
consideration.
