Buhler Wins Big Order for New Rice Mill in Japan
------------------------------------------------------------
The global Buhler Technology Group has corroborated its
success in Japan by winning yet another big order for rice
mills: The official ground-breaking ceremonies recently took
place in Chiba, Japan for the new rice mill to be constructed
for the Chibakenshukoryo company. The new facility will
achieve a processing capacity of 40,000 metric tons of brown
rice per year. The value of the contract amounts to over 10
million Swiss francs.
Buhler is responsible for the entire project engineering
including installation and start-up. It will also be supplying
the control system and most of the electro-mechanical
equipment for reception/cleaning/weighing and conveying, for
brown rice processing, and for white rice blending. As a
novelty for the Japanese rice processing industry, Buhler
will equip this new facility with a pneumatic materials
handling system based on the newly developed RiceLift
technology.
The plant will guarantee segregation-free and hygienic
processing of more than 40 rice varieties. The measurement
and automatic control of the material streams in this
large-scale plant will be ensured by 40 electronic Tubex
scales and Transflowtron flow rate controllers. Their signals
are evaluated by a complex programmable logic control system,
which will also be supplied by Buhler. Start-up is scheduled
for October 2001.
Chibakenkenshokuryo Co. Ltd. is based in the prefecture of
Chiba. It was founded in 1943 and is active in the fields
of rice processing and rice trading. The new Buhler rice
mill will completely replace the existing facility. The
state-of-the-art plant concept developed by Buhler, which
gives special consideration to the stringent requirements
for sanitation and ease of operation, prompted
Chibakenshukoryo to award the contract for the new rice
mill to Buhler despite fierce Japanese competition. Buhler
has thereby once again succeeded in proving its outstanding
capabilities in the field of rice milling in the fiercely
contested Japanese marketplace and in scoring yet another
success in Japan.
