New Sponsor : Springfield
Special Products
Jacksonville
Beach, FL -- We are pleased to announce that Springfield
Special Products has become a sponsor of Powder and Bulk Dot
Com.
Springfield Special Products (SSP) is a family-owned
business that has been in operation since 1985. They are the
only company in the United States to manufacture reusable
bulk bags, the PermaTainer, that do not require liners and
FDA-approved bags without liners. SSP has been the leader in
the use and design of PVC bags.
The
PermaTainer reusable semi-bulk container can be used for
almost any dry flowable material you have to handle, ship or
store at a much lower cost than competing methods, including
paper, polypropylene, steel, aluminum container and bins.
PermaTainers eliminates your products exposure to physical
damage and external contamination.
"Better by Design"
Beyond
bulk bags, Springfield Special Products' product range
includes bulk bag dischargers and bulk bag fill racks. SSP's
dischargers are adjustable in height from 112" to 156" so
they will accommodate various sizes of bags. With a 3000 lb.
capacity, the bulk bag dischargers are manufactured of steel
tubing with heavy duty bracing. All equipment comes primed
and powder coated. An iris valve is standard on the SSP bulk
bag discharger.

Millpulse Motion Sensor Receives
CE Approval
Peterborough,
Ont -- Siemens Milltronics Millpulse 600 has received CE
approval and is available for sale worldwide. The CE Mark
indicates conformity to the legal requirements of the
European Union (EU) Directive with respect to safety,
health, environment, and consumer protection.
Built
to operate in even the harshest condition, Milltronics
Millpulse 600 is a heavy-duty 2-wire motion sensor that
provides solid state switch output to PLCs. Non-contacting
motion sensors detect changes in motion and speed of
conveying, reciprocating, and rotating machinery. Typical
applications include tail pulley shafts, driven pulleys,
motor shaft sensing, and screw conveyor flights.
The
Millpulse 600 offers underspeed, overspeed, differential
speed and speed indication functions by a PLC. With an all
aluminum body, it operates from -40 to 60°C (-40 to 140°F).
It operates with a probe/target separation of up to 100 mm
(4") gap between Millpulse 600 and targets.
The
Milltronics Millpulse 600 is a rugged unit, impervious to
dust, dirt, build-up and moisture, and is ideal for such
primary industries as mining, aggregate and cement plants.
Operating where other systems are prone to failure, the
non-contacting design eliminates the need for lubricating,
cleaning and part replacement.
It
reduces downtime and clean-up expenses associated with
conveying equipment failure. Its pulse output can be used to
minimize spillage, prevent damage, detect belt slippage at
the head pulley, and warn of other conveyor malfunction.
Overall, the Millpulse 600 supplies cost effective equipment
protection.
Siemens Milltronics Process Instruments Inc. is a Siemens
company that designs and manufactures sophisticated
measurement instruments used by the water and wastewater,
aggregate, cement, mining, chemical, milling, food and other
process industries. Principal product lines include level
measurement, dry solids flow measurement, and process
protection devices.
Products are available worldwide through a network of sales
representatives and distributors. The company is based in
Peterborough, Ontario, where it employs 300 people.

Brabender : New Ultra Low-Rate
Feeders
Mississauga,
ONT -- New features have been introduced to provide improved
flexibility, accuracy, range ability, scale lock out
protection and cleanability for this loss in weight
vibrating tray feeder.
Vibrating tray feeders have traditionally been desirable for
feeding applications based on their Pulsationless flow
characteristic. However, at low feed rates, loss in weight
feedback control has been a challenge. Since there is a
dynamic weighing requirement, the feedback control must be
fast; hence weight signal filtering needs careful handling.
Brabender’s new low rate feeders incorporate new techniques
in dynamic weighing offered by DigiMASS-2 twin vibrating
wire load cell, resonant frequency control with amplitude
feedback to linearize the feed rate control over a wide feed
rate range up to 100:1.
Combined with superior performance, the easy change feature
aids in changing ingredients and cleaning.

Freeman Launches New Software for Powder Tester
Malvern,
UK -- The release of Freeman Technology’s Data Analysis
software package for the company’s FT4 universal powder
tester delivers faster analysis with more flexible
reporting options. It incorporates the latest types of
test available on this multi-functional powder
measurement system, and offers a redesigned and
simplified user interface.
Thanks to a program of
continual development, new functions and extended
measurement capabilities have been added to the FT4.
These include compression, permeability and shear
testing; the FT4 is now regarded as a universal powder
tester.
The new FT4-DA (V4) software
enables the comprehensive analysis of all test types and
data sets, allowing them to be represented both
graphically and in report form. It also incorporates a
number of new tools for users that make analysis and
data representation and comparison even easier. Enhanced
graphics and graphing facilities allow more
sophisticated results presentation and full report
customization.
Part of the instrument’s
system software, FT4-DA enables rapid interpretation and
summary of measured data from powder samples. It is a
standalone application that can be installed on any
computer, allowing analysis away from the laboratory if
required. Existing FT4 users can upgrade to the new
release free of charge.

Mr. Roy wants a "feeder -
spreader" for aluminum powder:
I'm currently looking for a
feeding system which will be able to accurately feed
aluminum powder mixture on a 12' x 4' wide surface x about
1/4" to 1" thick, depending of the requirement.
I'm afraid that using a wide
vibrating feeder will segregate the mixture. I thought
about using the same kind of method that pavers use to
spread asphalt on road, if you know what I mean.
Is anybody know a company
that can provide that kind of equipment?

I was out at the WEFTEC show
