LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7,
2002--Top management at Canon Communications is eagerly anticipating
February 19-21, 2003, when they expect to make trade show history on
the West Coast. That is when, in a bold strategic maneuver, the
company will take its WestPack show -- a stand-alone fixture in the
region for over half a century -- and place it alongside four other
expositions in the Anaheim Convention Center.
WestPack
will be part of an event that features more than 3,000 exhibiting
companies and 40,000 professionals, through its co-location with
Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West, Pacific Design
& Manufacturing, Electronics West, and the PLASTEC West
Pavilion.
"Most West Coast packaging
professionals have not participated in an event of this size and
scope," said Diane O'Connor, Trade Show Director for Canon
Communications LLC. "WestPack has evolved from a stand-alone
show to an integral part of a comprehensive event serving all
aspects of design, manufacturing, and packaging. No other event on
the West Coast offers such `front-to-back-end' coverage."
The exposition will include suppliers
in every category, including: Machinery & Machinery Components,
Closures, Containers, Materials and Services. WestPack will also
feature product pavilions in Cosmetic & Personal Care Packaging,
Pharmaceutical & Nutraceutical Packaging, and Material
Handling/Logistics. In addition, WestPack will also offer a full
conference schedule for original equipment manufacturers.
Information about WestPack, including
online registration and comprehensive conference sessions, is
available at www.westpackshow.com

Accumass Belt Scale Integrator Now
Legal-for-Trade
Peterborough, Canada, September 12,
2002 -- The Milltronics Accumass BW500 belt scale integrator has
received Electronic Indicator/Totalizer approval from Measurement
Canada, a federal government agency within Industry Canada. The
BW500, in conjunction with a Milltronics Multi-Idler belt scale (MMI),
can now be used in legal-for-trade applications in Canada where the
value of the commodity does not exceed $150 per tonne (metric ton).
The
integrator exceeded all performance tests for linearity,
repeatability of the indicator, momentary power interruption,
voltage, electromagnetic susceptibility, susceptibility of span to
temperature, and stability of zero to temperature. Similar approval
applications are now pending in the US (NTEP), South Africa (SABS),
UK (OIML), and Australia (NSC).
First launched in 1999, the BW500 is
widely used in industries using belt scales on their belt conveyors,
especially the cement, aggregate and mining industries.

Niro Presents New Compact Spray Dryer
Columbia, Maryland -- Niro Inc., a
leader in drying technology, is now actively marketing its new
compact spray dryer. The plant design will benefit operators all
over the world in the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries,
because the dryer requires less space, makes less noise and consumes
less energy than its predecessors.
The
new Integrated Filter Dryer - IFD - features air filters placed
inside the drying chamber. This not only reduces plant size
requirements and noise levels, but also improves powder quality and
overall profitability by enabling operators to recover powder
particles in the drying chamber itself.
Based on the widely successful
Fluidized Spray Dryer (FSD) principle, the IFD concept also includes
an integrated fluid bed dryer. This gives operators control of
product properties resulting in better and more profitable end
products.
Prototype testing has shown that the
IFD spray dryer is suitable for a long range of food, chemical and
pharmaceutical applications. We expect that the IFD spray dryer will
be approved and available for the 3A/USDA dairy applications around
August 2003.
