Feeders : K-Tron Earns Reader’s
Choice Award
PITMAN,
NJ -- "Chemical Processing", a Putman Media trade journal
serving the North American chemical processing industries,
recently recognized K-Tron as the 'best provider of
technology' in the category of feeders, by awarding their
2006 Readers Choice Award for feeders to K-Tron.
Seventeen percent of the readers responding to the Chemical
Processing survey in the category of feeders named K-Tron as
the best supplier of feeder technology. The rankings
show the percentage of the total responses that a particular
company received. Putman only listed vendors that garnered
at least 5% of the votes in a category.
Chemical Processing conducted the survey for the third year
in 2006. K-Tron has led the feeder category each year.
Readers received email notices and electronic newsletters or
used the link on the magazine's web site to complete the
extensive questionnaire, which covers 40 categories of
equipment. Respondents had to type their selections into a
blank box, rather than picking from a pre-selected list of
companies.
About
K-Tron
K-Tron
is a global leader in the gravimetric feeder market and a
single-source supplier for feeding, pneumatic conveying and
systems engineering solutions. The K-Tron Process Group
manufactures and markets its equipment for the process
industries under the brand names of K-Tron Feeders, K-Tron
Pneumatic Conveying Systems (PCS) and K-Tron Colormax

NASA Buys Moon-Dust Tight Matcon "Smart Drum"
Sewell,
NJ -- Matcon have a long tradition of supplying top
quality materials handling equipment to many of the
worlds blue chip manufacturing companies. Our clients
come from every corner of the globe, from every industry
and economic background, but when we were awarded a
contract from NASA, the worlds leading and largest and
space agency, the potential for Matcon equipment went
simply 'out of this world'
Not many companies in our
industry can boast about NASA as a client. But that is
exactly what we can do at Matcon, after being awarded a
contract from the worlds leading space agency. NASA are
best known for their contributions in pioneering space
exploration, but for many years they have pushed forward
the frontiers of human knowledge and achievement here on
earth.
NASA's contributions have
impacted our lives at every level, including medicine
food technology and material science. Matcon's SmartDrum
and discharge station system, when coupled with its
containment technology will offer a level of material
control that is necessary on this lunar dust containment
project.
The Matcon “Smart Drum” is
part of the unique Matcontainer range of Intermediate
Bulk Containers (IBCs), used for the storage and
distribution of powders, granules and other materials.
With a capacity of 5.3 to 17 cu. ft. (150 – 450 liters)
and DOT 56/UN Chapter 16 certification for international
transportation, Smart Drums are ideal for handling small
batches both inside and outside the production
environment.
Unlike conventional drums,
the Smart Drum does not need to be inverted to be
discharged. Each Smart Drum incorporates the Matcon Cone
Valve at its outlet, which enables controlled and
dust-tight discharge using a Matcon Smart Drum Station.
Options include tumble blending using a Smart Drum
Blender as a quick and efficient means of homogenizing
the contents and cleaning via manual or automatically
operated Wash Stations or Wash Booths.
Through our partners The
Blakeslee Equipment Company and Ken Bowmer we would like
to thank NASA for placing their trust in Matcon our
people and our technology.

Mr. Susilo needs help choosing a
silo for polyethylene:
Can you tell us the
difference between aluminum, stainless steel and mild steel
silos - besides the cost.
I reside in Indonesia, South
East Asia where the humidity is quite high. This silo will
be used to store polyethylene resin.

Mr. Fowers wants to fill small
packets with powder:
Our company has acquired a
contract (albeit, a fairly small one) to fill packets with
10.2 grams of Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) powder.
We're looking for a simple,
but accurate machine to dispense this amount of powder +/-
1%. Does anyone know what type of machine would work best
for this application without being overly expensive?
