"Hurricanes" Are Here & They Convey Powders Without a Filter!
------------------------------------------------------------
PITMAN, NJ (Sept. 8, 1999) -- K-Tron's patented Hurricane
vacuum loader design allows filterless conveying of pellets
and granular powders at rates up to 50,000 lbs./hr. (23,000
kg/hr.), which can offer a significant advantage to processors.
Hurricane filterless loaders can generally handle granular
powders greater than 250 microns. Depending on material
characteristics, powders down to 8 microns have been
successfully conveyed. The ability to convey powders without
a filter can offer significant productivity gains to processors.
For example in a plastic molding application, a powder conveying
system using filterless Hurricane loaders required far less
down time for maintenance, increasing productivity and providing
significant savings in cleaning and filter replacement costs.
For hard to handle powders, Hurricane's design permits a dramatic
reduction in filter size and compressed air requirements. Based
on its unique two-stage cyclone conveying technology, the
Hurricane powder system removes more than 99% of particles from
the incoming convey stream. Remaining fines are captured by an
internal 0.3 micron pleated, PTFE cartridge filter. Up to 50%
less filter area is required than in conventional pneumatic
systems, reducing costs and lowering headroom requirements by
25%. In addition, the unique airflow self-cleans the filter.
Units are available in stainless steel construction with FDA
approved gaskets and are offered as single loaders or complete
engineered central systems.

INTERPHEX 2000 Returns to New York, March 21-23, 2000
------------------------------------------------------------
The INTERPHEX 2000 Show and Conference offers innovative
solutions to the pharmaceutical manufacturing industrys
most challenging obstacles, and by doing so, is projected to
attract an astoundingly large number of show exhibitors,
attendees and conferees.
With more than 750 of the world's leading suppliers on hand,
the exhibition offers the most up-to-date trends, technologies
and products from influential companies, along with the
convenience of one-stop shopping. "INTERPHEX brings the latest
in equipment offerings for a cost-effective, one-day review,
keeping my company competitive," said 1999 attendee Rich Kalwa,
a process safety engineer at Witco.
"There are a lot of things that contributed to last years
success, including the quality of the companies exhibiting,
the enhanced conference program, and the international
accessibility that the city of New York provides," said
Christopher McCabe, Industry Vice President of Reed Exhibition
Companies. "In general, the trade show industry is doing
extremely well, as more and more companies are discovering
that it is one of the most cost-effective ways to reach
their customers and forge new relationships."
The INTERPHEX Conference gives pharmaceutical professionals
their choice of more than 45 seminars and 30 in-depth workshops,
including new sessions and topics brought by the industrys
leading organizations. The broad-based, multi-track program
was designed to help attendees create a curriculum tailored
to their individual needs and objectives.
The 2000 INTERPHEX Conference includes in-depth discussions
on FDA regulations, and expanded coverage of management topics
such as compliance training, outsourcing, and supply chain
management. A distinguished faculty of more than 70 industry
authorities and technical experts from top suppliers, consulting
companies and universities shared their insights and expertise
with conferees, and provided advice on specific applications
during daily networking luncheons.
INTERPHEX is one of five Reed events in the pharmaceutical
industry - INTERPHEXWest, INTERPHEX UK, INTERPHEX Japan and
INTERPHEX South America.
