ISO-Veyor Containers Sold to
Lafarge NA
Doncaster,
UK -- Lafarge North America became the first North American
owners and operators of the ISO-Veyor Inter modal bulk
container technology from InBulk Technologies of East
Kilbride Scotland with an expected delivery date in December
2006 of the first 12 units.
Lafarge North America's Montreal office completed a highly
successful trial with the 20 ft., H-type ISO-Veyor for a
marine shipment by Oceanex of cement powder to Newfoundland
customers from the Port of Halifax and Montreal since April.
The
ISO-Veyor is truly intermodal, facilitating easy transition
between road and rail and sea. It consists of a cylindrical
vessel with a 25 mі capacity constructed within the frame
dimensions of a 20ft ISO unit. It can be handled exactly as
a standard ISO container, utilizing currently available
trailer chassis and rail car rolling stock. It can be filled
at source and remain sealed until the point of delivery thus
removing the need for intermediate handling or storage of
the contents.
Once
the ship arrives at the port, the ISO-Veyor is lifted from
the Quayside onto a conventional skeletal trailer. The rest
of the journey takes place by road. On arrival the ISO-Veyor
can be loaded onto the ground. It now becomes a temporary
silo. No need for the driver to wait around. The ISO-Veyor
can be stacked up to 9 high. The units can be drawn upon and
discharged as demand dictates, ensuring a smooth and
seamless supply of cement and cement substitute materials.
The
ISO-Veyor represents a step forward in dry bulk
transportation. Pressurized "dry" bulk containers have been
available as tipping tanks which require hydraulically
operated tipping chassis. These are expensive and also carry
H&S issues at many sites, as there is the possibility of
being blown over during high winds.
So
far, horizontal discharge tanks have been an extension of
the "belly tanker concept", where the internal cones take up
valuable space and reduces payload. InBulk Technologies
recognized a significant opportunity to extend their 30
years of expertise within the "dense phase pneumatic
conveying" industry by applying their knowledge to pneumatic
discharge tank containers.
Jim
MacLean, InBulk Agent for Canada and North America comments,
"We are delighted with our sale of the first ISO-Veyors to
Lafarge NA. We hope to build on this contract with other
cement companies in the US and Canada as the whole
flexibility of this solution is an excellent way for cement
suppliers to minimize the risks, keep costs to a minimum and
maximizing their supply chain efficiencies whilst
recognizing their sustainability obligations".

Union Process New Circulation
Grinding System
Akron,
OH -- Union Process, a manufacturer of grinding and
dispersing equipment for a broad range of industrial
applications, recently produced a special laboratory sized
Q-2 circulation grinding system ideally suited to processing
technical ceramics.
This
special Q-2 was customized with flame-proof electricals and
sealed for grinding under inert gas. The mill is totally
metal-free thanks to a ceramic-lined grinding chamber,
zirconium oxide sleeved agitator arms and a coated (Halar)
premix/holding tank.
The
system is also equipped with a dual set of special
dosing/additive tanks to make adjustments to the
premix-holding tank easy and efficient.
The
Q-2 utilizes a media volume of 2.2 gallons with a
recommended holding tank capacity of 5 - 20 gallons.

New VF600EZ Volumetric Feeder Introduced
Centerville,
MN -- New HAF feeder allows for complete tool-free
disassembly with auger removal from either end.
Operations that require quick access are limited by
typical feeder disassembly from the front with the drive
fixed and stationary. The VF600EZ makes it simple by
allowing auger to be pulled out from either end or
simply slid out from rear for inspection.
Design allows for radically
configured batch system feeding with feeders mounted in
tight making for a compact installation without
sacrificing serviceability. By supporting and assisting
drive components and discharge tube assembly, operators
are less exposed to injury because they are no longer
lifting these parts. EZ does all the work. Simple
tool-free take apart makes it easy for cleaning and
inspection, providing more assurance that this task is
being completed.
Typical larger volumetric
quick take apart feeders prohibit auger access from the
rear. Augers are only able to be removed from the front.
Discharge tube and auger are typically heavy and
cumbersome with no means of support.
The VF600EZ utilizes a set of
solid stainless steel bars riding in linear bearings to
support drive assembly and discharge tube. A hinge at
each end allows for these components to be hinged out of
the way. Bottom of feeder is flush with opening making
for easy ledge free clean up. With both ends of feeder
housing open and exposed, a thorough cleaning of housing
can be made. Modular design of components will allow a
combination of augers and feeder discharge tubes to be
used for simple tool-free conversion of a feeder from
one size to another.
This product represents a
major advancement to a product that has been in plants
for several decades. Not re-invented, just completely
redesigned to suit a modern process facility.

Mr. Bratt needs to dry salt:
Hello, does anyone know a
formula to figure out what size rotary kiln dryer needed to
dry salt. Moisture content, bulk density, BTU's, RPM's
of dryer, heat source, size of drum, etc.
Any help would greatly be

Mr. Jain has problems grinding
onion powder:
While grinding the dehydrated
slices of onion into 100 mesh powder, it is caking in a very
short time.
1. The dehydrated in feed
flakes moisture is <6%.
2. The grinding atmosphere is controlled and %RH is <40%.
3. Product temperature after grinding raises by 15C.
4. Infeed temp is 30C.
5. Grinding of dehydrated flakes mixed with onion skins has
less tendency of caking. Where as pure onion flake has very
high tendency for caking.
Please suggest some measures
to keep the powder in free flowing condition.
