Film back at the Cathedral – St Bolton’s

Tangent St. As part of Pölten, the magic of cinema returns to Cathedral Square – from June 6 to 9, extraordinary films will shine on the big screen directly in the cathedral under a starry sky for four days.

Opening of the Open Air Film Festival

It all started with a cinema dream and a desire to share this dream with others: the big cinema in Cathedral Square in St Bolton. That is the dream of Alexander Silaba and Klemens Kopetsky. Since 1994 the St Bolton Open Air Film Festival “Film am Dome” has been a huge success. The open-air cinema was a novelty at the time and developed into one of the most popular cultural events in Lower Austria. This success paved the way for the Cinema Paradiso art house cinema on Radhasplatz.

Two world premieres

The documentary “Necropolis” celebrates its world premiere on June 9 and brings the sensational discoveries in Cathedral Square to the big screen. It shows the work of scientists, 22,000 skeletons and finds from the Roman Governor’s Palace and their importance to science. Director Alexander Milker and city archaeologist Ronald Risi are also guests.

The live concert will then have its second world premiere. Matthias Jagić especially composed the music for the Charlie Chaplin movie “Circus”. It will be performed live with a string quartet to accompany the film.
