As the festival season ends on Ash Wednesday, the Christian season of Lent begins for many in Austria. In addition to the religious meaning of fasting, many also see many health benefits in the centuries-old tradition. Many experts also emphasize the positive effects of fasting: fasting renews cells, improves digestion, promotes weight loss and provides overall well-being. Therapeutic fasting, juice cleanses or intermittent fasting – the range of options is almost endless and makes it clear that fasting is still trendy in 2024. But is fasting as healthy as its reputation suggests? How do you fast properly and which method of fasting is suitable for whom? In this edition of “Meryn's Consultation Room”, Siegfried Meryn, Dr. Ulrik Koschl, spa doctor and nutritionist, Mag.a Margit Fensl, holistic nutritionist and pedagogic kinesiologist and professor.
