Vienna (OTS) – The 32nd Vienna New Year's Eve Trail ends right now, at 2am. 800,000 visitors from Vienna and around the world sang in the New Year in the last few hours at a total of eight venues in the city center and the Prater. The New Year's Eve Trail builds on its successful finish from the previous year and is once again one of the biggest New Year's Eve celebrations in Europe.
This time locations include the Radhausplatz, Freiungen, Am Hof Square, Graben, Stephensplatz, Gardner Straße, Neuer Markt and the Winter Market at Riesenradplatz in the Prater. The varied, entertaining and more than 80-hour stage show started at 2pm, and more than twenty restaurants catered to guests from 11am onwards.
Due to huge crowd, the entire venue was closed at 11.20 pm. Also, subsequent visitors are no longer allowed.
You can't start a new year without a New Year's concert
Anyone who wants to welcome the New Year in a “classic” way can look forward to a special event: the Vienna Philharmonic's traditional New Year's concert, this year conducted by Christian Thielemann, played live from the Musikverein. The Stephansplatz and Wintermarkt am Riesenradplatz stages were broadcast on the Prater from 11:15 am.
To this end, restaurants in the Graben – Stephansplatz – Kärnterstraße area are open on New Year's Day from 10am to 5pm.
