A woman and a man were found dead Monday afternoon after a shooting at a home in St. Stephen op Leoben in Upper Styria. According to preliminary findings by investigators, both had gunshot wounds and the woman may have been running away from the man as she was found outside. But this is not yet certain, said Heimo Kolbacher, a spokesman for the Styrian state police directorate.

It is suspected to be murder and suicide. Around 4:30 p.m., neighbors called police to the single-family home after hearing gunshots. Then, the authorities found the two dead men and the two guns used in the murder. The exact backgrounds and identities of the two dead men were still unclear Monday evening, nor was it clear what their relationships were to each other. Both are probably around 50 years old.

According to initial reports, the man was found dead at home. However, according to initial findings, the building is uninhabited. More details aren’t expected until Tuesday, according to the state police. Styrian State Crime Branch police office has taken over the investigation.
